Money chests Introduction In my web book, under the headings Locks for chests and boxes and Safes and vaults, I explain that the oldest money chests in Sweden were used in churches. In this chapter I would mainly like to provide the background to the unique iron cash boxes that became so common here in Sweden during the nineteenth century and explore their locking devices and origin.
